Amazon S3; Simple Storage Service

Amazon S3; Simple Storage Service is a secure, durable, highly-scalable distributed object storage service. It provides virtually limitless storage on the internet. Individual objects can range in size from a minimum of 0 bytes to a maximum of 5 terabytes. It has a simple web services interface that you can use to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. With Amazon S3, we pay only for the storage we use.

It designed for online backup and archiving of data and applications on AWS. We usually use S3 for log storage. If we need to mount from EC2, we can use EFS; Elastic File System.
Amazon S3 users first create and name a bucket that stores data. Buckets are the fundamental containers in Amazon S3 for data storage. Amazon S3 users specify which bucket to store objects to or retrieve objects from.

Amazon S3 stores data in key-value pairs. It effectively is a NoSQL database. Each object is stored as a file with its metadata included and is given an ID number. The object key uniquely identifies the object in a bucket. After the objects are stored, Amazon S3 maintains their durability by quickly detecting and repairing any lost redundancy.

Amazon RDS

Amazon RDS; Relational Database Service is one of the best options for PaaS that provides a full featured relational database service. We can choose DB engines from Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Aurora, PostgreSQL or MariaDB. Users are billed for the number of used RDS hours.

It can scale horizontally and vertically. It supports Read Replicas for performance enhancement. If we want to ensure high availability in RDS, we can use Multi-AZ deployments. Our data is synchronously replicated to a standby in a different AZ with Multi-AZ deployment.

Multi-AZ Deployment is assured that should a single AZ go offline where the physical server instance machine resides, an automatic failover is initiated onto an up-to-date standby replication in another connected AZ. We can create a Multi-AZ deployment by simply specifying Multi-AZ when creating a DB instance from the RDS console.

We can calculate the estimated cost of AWS usage fee if you have the information about processing power, the amount of data transferred and the size of data storage. If you tell us the total amount of data that DB accumulates and the amount of input and output data that will be transferred to DB, we can calculate the estimated cost of RDS.

Tantanmen; Sichuan Dan Dan noodles

I had Tantanmen at Fufu Ramen Urawa Dojo in Sakura Ward, Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Tantanmen; Sichuan Dan Dan noodles is a Japanese ramen that originated in Sichuan Province, China. The noodles are swimming in a deliciously balanced soup with hot spiciness from chili oil. They combine sweet, salty, nutty and spicy flavours.
We can choose the level of spiciness of the tantanmen at Fufu Ramen. I opted for the least spicy one. I like the mildly seasoned tantanmen for the Japanese. Too spicy soup will break my tummy. It has been suggested that drug addiction destroys your taste buds and makes you prefer intensely spicy foods. When you become addicted to drugs, you can’t even enjoy a healthy diet.

Police Misconduct

I have published Amazon Kindle books of Police Scandal. I wrote Japanese articles about the Carlos Ghosn case criticizing human rights violations by Japanese criminal justice.

I am worried about police scandals, police corruption, police misconduct, police brutality, police violence, especially criminal behavior of Japanese police officers. Their actions include coerced false confession, dishonesty, intimidation, false arrest and false imprisonment. The specific types are physical or verbal harassment and physical or mental injury. Many of them are profit motivated and violence related.

Japanese police officers take inappropriate conduct and illegal or unethical actions in connection with their official duties. They exercise undue or excessive force against a civilian. They violate individuals’ constitutional rights. They break their political contract and abuse their power.

EAI; Enterprise Application Integration is an essential technology for system integration. It is a technical area that overlaps with ETL; Extract/Transform/Load. It extracts data from various data sources such as databases, flat files and MQ. It transforms data to a specified format and writes it to various targets.

There are many packaged software products that implement EAI. You do not need to develop the parts that connect with other systems because the products cover them. If the connection destination changes, you only need to change the definition. By reducing the dependency between systems, the impact on other systems due to system changes is minimized.
